Taking care of your tomato crops include usual activities like watering and fertilization (usually with P and K or fertilizer from humic acid). Besides the usual, though, setting up pole markers for your tomato crops is also important to prevent collapsing due to strong wind, heavy rain, or certain pests like rats and insects.
This pole marker system has been done by a lot of tomato farmers that use either mulched seedbeds or polybag pots. They usually use the drill system in which one pole marker is used for one individual tomato plant.
This drill system is pretty easy to apply. The first thing to do is to make your own pole markers by cutting bamboo in 60 cm pieces or however long depends on your needs.
After you get your pole markers ready, then you stick them into the soil near where the focal point of growth of your tomato plant is. Make sure to be careful as to not damage the roots by giving enough distance, about 8 – 12 cm to avoid mechanical friction between those two things. Have fun trying this out!.
